GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES
Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….
Just a few words this morning. We are pretty close to Christmas, and it is at this time that we contemplate the awards for the year. The Award Categories are as follows.
(These awards have nothing to do with having the most beautiful asanas, looking good, or meeting any of society's view of what constitutes a good yoga teacher or class. The criteria are below, but I must say that I applied the yamas to each nomination. "Were they living close to these challenges" was my first question)
* MOST IMPROVED STUDENT
The Student who has overcome study difficulties/learning and personal challenges and is making great strides in their course. Each module sent in on time, each module better than the last as their capabilities and understanding grows. They may or may not have completed the year.
* MOST INSPIRATIONAL STUDENT
The student who applied the most effort to their course, who researched well, who asks questions,
who is prepared to challenge me and explore difficult issues. The student who is obviously "in love" with yoga. No detail is too small, no question is unanswered.
* GRADUATES OF THE YEAR
Those students who rose up as the year progressed, meeting life challenges, growing personally and professionally through diligently doing the course. These students stayed in contact, went down each path as suggested, thought about the things we discussed, gave heaps of feedback to the newsletter or assessments. They read, studied, and understood.
* ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
The person who said "yes" to life and met great difficulties, complexity and challenge.This may have taken them down paths that they did not expect, but they have taken each challenge as it came along with grace, calm, and in each instance, followed the yamas. They have not only completed the course, they have inspired others.
I will be announcing the recipients at our Luncheon/High Tea on the 5th December If you have not yet booked, it is at 1pm at The Tylden Harvester – please email me to reserve you spot. There is a cost:$25, which (because there is not much time) you can pay on arrival. Please email me if you want to come because there are only a few seats left yogafirst@netcon.net.au
"YARN-BOMBING"
We need you. Please plan to come to our Friday meetings in the new year, and explore the new yarns that we have in stock. You should see the magnificent rugs and other items that are coming out of our classes. (go see the ZPAGETTI on the web site shop www.yogabeautiful.com.au)
HOW ABOUT AFFILIATING IN THE NEW YEAR?
You have been teaching for some time now, have a full book in your classes? The next step is to apply for affiliation with us so that you can be a teacher training centre where you are. We still do all the modules, the theory, but you get to teach the asanas, techniques – the hands-on stuff.
It is the natural progression, and you can set your own rates, your own school name etc – just under our banner. Think about it and get back to me.
"You are the ruby in the heart of granite. How long will you try to deceive us. We can see the truth in your eyes. So come, return to the root of the root of your own self" (Rumi)
"MEDICINE STONES" MASSAGE WITH JAHNE – GARDENERS AHOY! If you have gardener's Back, or just generally need a a "physical" come and have a Medicine Stone Massage with me. I have some beautiful oils which I layer and feather, using techniques I have tried and tested over the years, linked to Tibetan Pulsing and other wonderful hands-on therapy. To book with Jahne please email yogafirst@netcon.net.au. I am available every days except Thursday. This massage will rejuvenate body, mind and spirit. To explore this further before you come, go to the web site www.pptmassage.com
MASSAGE OILS WITH ANTI-FREEZE! Did you know that a lot of oils used in massage are preserved with ANTI-FREEZE!!! True. Do you know that the oils that your therapist is using are real, essential oils and absolutes. We do. I have the certificates from the producer, and I know how each oil was harvested and distilled. Can your masseur say this? I think it is important. You have spent a lot of time getting chemicals out of your body, and unbeknownst to you, your masseur is loading you up with them when you think you are being helped. Imagine if you used anti freeze oils in your oil burner? What would you be breathing IN? Poison, that's what. Remember the ad "Oils ain't oils" - check yours.
You really have to watch labels. I used to take shark cartilage which I bought from the vet. It was pure but tasted awful> Looking for alternatives I went to the chemist who stocked shark cartilage capsules. Imagine my surprise when right down the bottom in small print the label said "may contain BOVINE". If I want cow bones I will go to a butcher thank you.
PPT/MEDICINE STONE MASSAGE COURSE:
I have received a number of requests and have decided to conduct a course over the holidays. If you want to be a professional masseur, then join me. The EARLY BIRD cost of the course is $450 or, it can be paid off over 3 months ($100 per month) after a deposit of $175. Please email me if you would like to do the course. yogafirst@netcon.net.au or you can enrol and post/scan the form to me. Do this via the web site. www.pptmassage.com

CHRISTMAS FEES:
No-one likes to talk about money, BUT, now is the time to consider your Christmas budget. Every year we get a number of folk who have left their Christmas plans to the last minute and email to ask if I wouldn't mind them not paying their fees for a few months while they "catch up". If you haven't thought about your budget, think now. Maybe pay your fees in advance.
THE TEACHER TRAINING VIDEOS
I hope that you are all getting as much as I am out of this "discipline". I record every Monday morning (depending on the light). I just know that before I do anything else, I have to do this one thing. Over the time I have been doing it, it has morphed (thanks to your feedback), from a video of me doing something, to various videos incorporating the teacher training requirements you have requested. The more feedback you give me, the better I will be at doing what you are looking for.
THE YAMAS (Our book is on etsy!)
I have just had a look, it is beautiful. It looks like a real book (I don't know what I expected!) If you are interested (PDF or Ebook) , please let Debbie know, and reserve your copy. Email us at yogafirst@netcon.net.au. Or you can wait for it to go into the shop on our web site. I think the cost will be $7.99, so everyone will be able to afford it. A few students have already accessed it on ETSY where it is available as a PDF for $7.99 www.MyYogaBooks.etsy.com
If you are "fence sitting", deciding whether to be a yoga teacher, to move from the "introduction course" to the full professional certification, then you would do well to read the book I have just put on easy. " HOW TO BECOME A YOGA TEACHER BY HOME STUDY". The cost of this book is $2.99 and it is available by going to
Www.MyYogaBooks.etsy.com. If you are an Affiliate and have some students you would like to enrol in your teacher training course, then this may be a good investment.
MORE EBOOKS: Now that "THE YAMAS, Simple and Serious" is up on Etsy, I am working on new Ebooks. "HOW TO BECOME A YOGA TEACHER BY HOME STUDY" is up on Etsy, and has just been sent to the publisher and I am half way through "101 WAYS TO KICK START YOUR YOGA BUSINESS and your life (via the Yamas)". These two are $2.99 each, and available to everyone and also on Etsy (soon to be Ebooks) www.MyYogaBooks.etsy.com

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE for $275 TOGETHER! The two!
Please check your insurance status. Just to reiterate….This offer is NOT available without the Registration. It is because you are Registering through us that the Insurance company was able to lower their price. We lowered ours a little to show good faith, and Bingo! A fantastic offer. If you don't use it, the numbers will drop making it impractical, and we will revert to the old way and the old price (ouch!). (Registration/Insurance on the web site www.yogabeautiful.com.au)
OUR CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON HIGH-TEA. Cost:$25 (only a couple of seats left – because this is being specially catered, just for us, we need to know if you are coming. It is awfully difficult if you just turn up.)
Thursday 5th December at 1pm at The Tylden Harvester (the art deco restaurant at the Tylden/Trentham/Kyneton roads intersection).
*****RSVP TO ME, EMAIL PLEASE – this is a "catered affair" and we would encourage you to please pay with your booking, over the phone by credit card, or if you can at class or at Yarn Bombing. To organise by phone please book with Debbie on Tuedays or Wednesdays only at 0354 273 518
This is going to be a fun day, and like our Oaks Day function we are asking our attendees to dress up with a hat (and maybe gloves). It will be a real Windsor Hotel Style High Tea. To book, Phone Deb, or Email me yogafirst@netcon.net.au

THE SHOP
We are up-dating our site, speeding up the shop . Because the shop has been linked to our Ebay site, it has been slow. In the next week or so it will be redesigned so that you will go to our Yoga Beautiful page, nominate the product that you want, and you will be taken directly to that product FAST. It will be a huge improvement.
Instore now – Our newest Radiant Core DVD of course. The ZPAGETTI knitting yarn in all colours. Our best sellers are neti pots, plus - real liquorice root tea, bands, straps, yoga mat bags, tarot cards and so on and so on. If you have an item you would like to sell, please let me know. We are always looking for items for the shop. I have put up some of my tiny little sweaters which are actually "egg cosies". I know its an old fashioned idea, but very useful.
As you know, we are agents for a wonderful environmentally friendly yarn called ZPAGETTI. I have been knitting wreaths out of this yarn.. They look fantastic with a few bells and ribbons. The cost of a ball is $18.95 but they are huge balls, and only 4 are needed for a standard yoga mat. You can get 4 wreaths (or more depending on size), from one ball.
This new yarn is also great to knit bags, cushions, fruit bowls, rugs etc etc. Free pattern with the purchase of the yarn. It knits up fast!!!! JOIN THE STUDIO CROCHET AND KNITTING CLASSES IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A MAT BUT DON'T KNOW HOW.
Instead of having a cup and going backward and forward to the Ocean, each time just getting a cupful. Become a cup LIVING IN THE OCEAN – the Ocean of Shakti, the Ocean of energy.
GI/GF (?) WITH JAHNE
One of our mums had a baby a few months back. She thought it was being difficult (impossible), crying, reflux, not eating etc etc, crying, more crying. (Sounds like what mum said about me! Often!!!) Anyway after multiple visit to doctors, chiros, etc etc, she discovered that the child was allergic to lactose. Why don't Doctors think of these things. Had a similar case here at the studio. A grandmother brought a child here for exactly the same reasons as above. The family was ready to put the baby on Ebay. I sent the grandma away to get some goats milk and voila! One perfect baby. It is sooooo simple. Try it first. If you have a difficult child (or partner), why not try the dietary route. If it works it works, if it is not the go, then no harm done.
PS don't herald the change, just discretely change and note the result.
THE RECIPES – "No grain no pain"
Last week I put a fabulous recipe for a cake that could be used to substitute for a christmas cake, and this week a Turmeric/Mango smoothie for those with irritated inflamed gut. I also have a short quiz there which will give you a clue if you are Gluten Intolerant. This is just a short Q and A, but if you answer "Yes" to all the questions or even half, it will point you in the right direction.
If you are paying more and more for nut milks why not make your own. It is simple. Blend your usual nuts (cashews, peanuts, mixed, your choice) with water, and strain them through the bags. That is all there is to it. You could add honey or vanilla (or chocolate), and save money. Plus the resulting milk would be chemical free! www.yogabeautiful.com.au
THE GARDEN:
The broad beans and the garlic have been a staple evening meal this week. Plus I have made lovely little herbal salads, and it looks like rain, so all is well. The pond is splendid – the pond life is plentiful. Listening to the frogs is so lovely. I planted mugwort last week after striking it in a glass indoors, It was magical to watch how quickly it grew, hope it does as well in the bog. I think I have planted too much in the bog actually, but, they will sort themselves out I am sure over summer as the ground dries out. It will be interesting to see what survives. The gardener said they all "should". But we all know what "should" did.
YIN YOGA DVD with Paul Grilley?
They are back in stock and if you don't have one, get one. They will be a staple in your yoga reference DVD library.
We are selling these for under $40 plus postage which may explain our turnover. When I bought mine I paid nearly $100 for it and was pleased to do it. So if you want a set, order now from the shop on our web site – or ring Debbie and she will post one out as soon as they come to hand – call on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 0354 273 518 (or order one when you come to teacher training. Www.yogabeautiful.com.au
FACEBOOK/BLOGS
Please, please, I can't be everywhere. If you want me to join Google groups, linkedin groups, etc etc. I just don't have the time. The blogs and just getting on Facebook and twitter keeps me busy. If you want to check out the GF blog, the address is www.mygfday.blogspot.com.au
I have also started a YOGA BLOG www.myyogabeautiful.blogspot.comwww.myyogabeautiful.blogspot.com
I am putting this newsletter up on the blog after I have posted it here. So if you want to get in first with the newsletter – I put it on the blog before it goes to the publisher…… that's where to look.
JAHNE'S MENTORING SESSIONS – "Step4th Mentoring"
Because Jahne has been teaching yoga for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice. Asking course questions is free, but, if you wish to have Jahne help you with relationships, career, or just getting personally "unstuck" then that is coaching/mentoring and does come with a cost. Her charge per half hour for mentoring is $75 and $65 for student teachers. It is amazing how much you can shift in half an hour when you strip away the unnecessary chatter. It's the Buddhist way.
"THE WOODEND MINISTRY OF FOOD".
In spite of the fact that it appears that the Macedon Council Newsletter department has blackballed me !!! (no more invites/notices for me, naughty girl that I am for asking questions), I am still concerned about the standard of food that is presented at Council functions and meeting across the Shire (and other Shires). I would appreciate feedback – lots of feedback. Please contact me at yogafirst@netcon.net.au.
THE YOGA BUSINESS CONNECTIONS NETWORK.
You know, when I first went to the States and worked in New York I was absolutely stunned at the way that American Artists and teachers networked and shared. That just didn't happen in Australia, and apparently still doesn't. The Yanks love to get together and talk over a wine (or fruit juice). It was so refreshing.
A yogi has tried to start a Yoga Teachers Group here which didn't do well at all (I know how hard it is to get yogis together), so come on gang, make it happen. There is a lot to talk about isn't there. I haven't got it all "nutted" out yet, but I think it is needed and wanted. Let me know what you think. Email me on yogafirst@netcon.net.au
'A CIRCLE OF WOMEN"
A CIRCLE OF WOMEN may just be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. DIVE IN, HOLD ON, LOVE IT UP. Get naked. Let them see you. Let them hold you. Let your reluctant tears fall. Let yourself rise fierce and love gentle. YOU WILL BE CHANGED. The very fabric of your being will be altered by this, if you allow it. PLEASE, PLEASE ALLOW IT (author:: Jeanette Leblanc).
Our yoga classes are the source of a CIRCLE OF WOMEN, and the luncheon functions and etc provides the fun part of our circle. Please join in.
REGARDING DEBBIE – If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She is available on Ph: 0354 273 518. I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach. Don't hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can..
Log on to our Web site www.yogabeautiful.com.au,
and tune in to our videos daily.
ENJOY – Love and Blessings,
Namaste Jahne
