NOV. 12TH LATEST NEWSLETTER

GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES

Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….

Seeing that we are close to Christmas, let us consider THE PURPOSE OF MONEY.

THE PURPOSE OF MONEY IS TO SPEND IT!  The law of spending is all about the art of negotiating and there are three affirmations you might like to try..

1.   Every dollar I spend comes back to me multiplied
2.   My income now always exceed my expenses
3.   The more I am willing to help other people prosper, the more other people are willing to help me prosper.

ALL SPENDING IS GIVING!  When you get a bill, look at it and say to yourself "ooo good, a chance to outflow".  If you see paying your bills as a loss, then you are in for a heap of trouble.  "Give and it shall be given unto you" as it says in the Bible.  Get into the spirit of paying your bills with joy.  Be happy.  Remember.  Bills are AGREEMENTS.   What are the Karmic ramifications of not meeting agreements?

Once your mind accepts the fact that your income will always exceed your expenses, when you raise your expenses your mind will help you create the money to match.  Make your income the function of your budget instead of the other way about.  Get the Universe on your side.

Let's look at where you spend your money.  Most people spend most on rent which is the worst investment.  Consider self-improvement alongside rent.  You paid…$'s  for your Teacher Training course.  You will get to use the information and qualifications forever.  It's a solid gold investment and  no–one can take it from you.  Self improvement is the best thing you can spend on and it doesn't even feature in most people's budget.  The best way to make money is to invest in yourself, and that is what self–improvement is all about.  If you want to make more money, take a look at your budget and make self improvement your top priority.

If you want more money, if you want a higher standard of living…..Start thinking about your next step on the self improvement ladder.  The mantra is "BE, DO, HAVE", but think about it the other way around.    What do you want to have?  What do you have to do to achieve that?  What will wanting that cause you to be?

"Whenever you experience a rush of love in your heart for yourself and everything else in this world, you should hold on to that state.  That is the doorway to Divinity: that is the key".  (Baba Muktananda)

YARN-BOMBING
Yarn-bombing Group meets at the Woodend Library at 2pm to 4pm every Friday.  If you want to join in, please do.  We can teach you to knit or crochet, or you can just help untangle wool, or sort,  or make cups of tea.  0r just sit and chat.  This week we are stitching up all our beanies destined for Nepal.  If you can't knit, you could help sew, or make tassels or pom-poms.   Any volunteers?

YOU CAN LEARN YOGA AND TEACH AT THE SAME TIME…
Remember the old saying:  "If you want to learn something, teach it!"

We have been supporting this concept from day one.  Of course it took us quite a long time to establish our credentials.  Way back in the beginning of the school, it was hard even to get Professional Indemnity insurance for graduates, but for the last 10 or so years we have been able to offer it to select students.  This means that whilst you are studying and paying for your course, you can work as a yoga teacher with full insurance protection.  I would encourage everyone to start teaching as soon as they can.

Remember when you do start teaching (or massaging, or anything), that you have to pay your rent, but what about other expenses?   When setting your fees, consider things like heating, lighting, props, replacement props, gardening, printing, advertising, insurance,  computer updates and connections, having your baby minded etc etc.  All of this has to be taken into account.

When people complain about the cost of yoga they may just be looking at their pay rate in comparison to what they think yours is – they don't know about the expenses.  So.  Don't underprice yourself.  I took on many classes from day one, and because I was a single mum I even hired a housekeeper.  It was the best investment I made, but I had to build that in to my class charges as an expense too.  Everything counts.

STUDIO CLASSES WITH JAHNE
Thank you to all my students who let me know when they are, or are not,  coming to class.  It means I can invite a casual student to join us.    Please,  if you like coming to yoga, make a commitment not just to coming sometimes, but to coming every time you have promised to do so.  I do, you can too.

HYPNO YOGA WITH JAHNE – my new range of Ayurvedic oils have just arrived, so if you have held off, or are waiting for these –  email today for an appointment.

YOGA CLASSES
STUDIO WITH JAHNE:  Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 6.30.
Saturday 12.30 - Restorative Yoga - "The Strawberries and Cream" of yoga.   I am thinking of once again having a mid-week, mid morning-restorative class.
WOODEND COMMUNITY CENTRE:  Wed. 12.30 and Saturday at 10.  $5 pp per class, bring a mat
INNISFREE: Yoga/life skills  Mon. Wed.   2.30. Wed .  Yoga: Sat. 2.30pm  Bookings required.
CASTLEMAINE: "RADIANT CORE CLASS"  NEW TIME!!  The first Monday in the month only, still at 12.40.  The next class is Monday the 2nd  December.

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING MORNING:  Wednesday 13th November at 9am (not 9.30).  I have shifted it because of Cup Day.  Please make every effort to be there.    We have been running a yoga teacher training session mixed in with our Saturday Morning class.  It has been a great success, and as I have said, this little "taster" of a real class, makes it easier for students to go out and teach.  It also allows me the opportunity to fine-tune their skills.  Book in, it is not nearly as scary as you may imagine.

CHRISTMAS TIMETABLE:   Hard to believe that Christmas is once again upon us.  Deb and I haven't exactly finalised the dates, but at the moment we are thinking that our last class will be on Monday 23rd December, the first class back in the new year will be the 6th January, and the first Teacher Training for the new year will be the 8th January.

CHRISTMAS FEES:
No-one likes to talk about money, BUT, now is the time to consider your Christmas budget.   Every year we get a number of folk who have left their Christmas plans to the last minute and email to ask if I wouldn't mind them not paying their fees for a few months while they "catch up".  We do mind.

If you haven't thought about your budget, think now.  Maybe pay your fees in advance.

Sorry, but I really don't think it is fair for you to cause my bills to lag behind because you haven't been responsible with your budget (read your yamas).  Please consider your financial situation now, and make sure that your fees are put aside, even paid in advance - and put away a little extra in case you overspend!  If you are going to be running your own yoga school in future you are going to have to consider these matters.  The bills (as you know) won't wait.

THE YAMAS (Our E book just for you,  is almost ready for publication!)
I have just had a look at the Ibook version.  It is beautiful.  It looks like a real book (I don't know what I expected!)  If you are interested (PDF or Ebook) , please let Debbie know, and reserve your copy.  Email us at yogafirst@netcon.net.au.   Or you can wait for it to go into the shop on our web site.  I think the cost will be $7.50, so everyone will be able to afford it.

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE for $275 TOGETHER!  The two!
Please check your insurance status.    Just to reiterate….This offer is NOT available without the Registration.  It is because you are Registering through us that the Insurance company was able to lower their price.  We lowered ours a little to show good faith, and Bingo! A fantastic offer.  If you don't use it, the numbers will drop making it impractical,  and we will revert to the old way and the old price (ouch!).

THE TAROT workshop
(together with Knitting and Crochet play) RSVP TO ME, EMAIL PLEASE – don't just drop in
Sunday 17th November between 2 and 4pm There is no charge for the class.
This is going to be a fun day.  We will be learning to knit and crochet, problem solving and generally having fun.  If you want to concentrate on Tarot, you can do this too. If you can't come, and want some of our new wool, or the tarot – GO TO THE WEB SHOP.  OR>>>> Email me to book a workshop at your venue.   yogafirst@netcon.net.au

GIRLS DAY OUT
The Oaks Day was a great success, the hats were spectacular, and I have been asked to organise another girls day out.  The consensus was that it be a "High-Tea" (finger sandwiches, petit fours, tiny cakes, champers and of course, real tea), dress – hats, gloves and "girly gear".  If you would like to join us on Thursday December 5th between 2pm and 5pm, let me know.  The venue is yet to be decided.   The price will be around $25 I should think.

THE RADIANT CORE DVD
This is another in the "home made DVD's" from Deb and Jahne.  Disc with a little folder with Jahne's drawings.  It is ready,  and ready to send out.  If you have ordered one you should get it in the next week.  If you would like to order one, please contact me on yogafirst@netcon.net.au.  Debbie will add the $25 to your account.

THE SHOP
Instore  now – Our newest Radiant Core DVD of course. The ZPAGETTI knitting yarn in all colours.   Our best sellers are neti pots,  plus - real liquorice root tea, bands, straps, yoga mat bags, tarot cards and so on and so on.   If you have an item you would like to sell, please let me know.  We are always looking for items for the shop.

We have become agents for a wonderful environmentally friendly yarn called ZPAGETTI (from Denmark NEW COLOURS HAVE JUST ARRIVED and are selling well.  I have featured it in a video if you want to have a close up of how it looks, and sort of showed a peek at me doing the crochet.  It was difficult because there was only me doing the camera and the crochet!  This yarn,  which will make THE BEST YOGA MATS,   is made from the offcuts of overlocked seams in the garment industry.  It is environmentally good, quick to make and fantastic.  Don't just stop at yoga mats, it makes great mats for the home, coasters, place mats, baskets, clothing….   Because it is just offcuts, please buy what you need at one go.  I may not be able to obtain a repeat of the colour .

The Australian Yoga Life magazine is going to show one of the mats I have made, the pattern will be able to be downloaded too although you hardly need one it is so simple.  The cost of a ball is $18.95 but they are huge balls, and only 4 are needed for a standard yoga mat.  It took me about 6 hours to knit a mat – I was watching TV at the same time.  Get onto our web shop, and make an order.  There are some beautiful colours.

I am crocheting a childs mat and doing a pattern.  I think 20inches by 44 inches – what do you think?

This new yarn is also great to knit bags, cushions, fruit bowls, rugs etc etc.  Free pattern with the purchase of the yarn.  It knits up  fast!!!! JOIN THE STUDIO CROCHET AND KNITTING CLASSES IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A MAT BUT DON'T KNOW HOW.

Instead of having a cup and going backward and forward to the Ocean, each time just getting a cupful.  Become a cup LIVING IN THE OCEAN – the Ocean of Shakti,   the Ocean of energy.

GI/GF (?) WITH JAHNE
I am just loving the new me.  My guts feel the best they have felt in my whole life (no exaggeration).  It makes me a difficult to ask around for tea.  Going out for a meal is getting easier as there are more and more options, although I went out to a local restaurant the other nite and had what was supposed to be Gfsushi, but wasn't and I spent the whole nite tossing and turning in bed with the pain in my belly (when I wasn't running to the toilet!).   I understand that there are going to be hiccups, I can't control everything.

THE RECIPES – "No grain no pain"
As well as taking Gluten out of my diet, I have put good fats back in.  My students were rolling around laughing as I extolled the virtues of lard and duck fat.  I was serious.  We have got to be more careful about our diet, and putting back good fats will help you all – believe me.  For example.  Ever since I can remember I have been vary wary about fats.  My mother weighed and measured everything (a weight watcher).  She really worked at staying slim as we come from a line of heavy women.  She made sure I stayed thin.  This of course carried on to my adult hood, and I have since discovered that everything I ate was making me "fat".  Just looking at cakes could make me heavier.

This is how things have changed.  On the Wednesday before the Oaks Day function (which was on the next day, Thursday) I weighed myself.  I ate reasonably that day.  On Oaks day I had a big brekky of bacon and eggs cooked in duck fat!  I then had chicken satay at the restaurant, and that evening as I was peckish I ate a baked potato with all the trimmings and lashings of real butter and cream and a small herb salad.  When I weighed myself on Friday morning I was 1kilo LIGHTER than I was on Wednesday.

That would not have happened with my old "low-fat high gluten" way of eating I can tell you!  Am I going to stay on this food management plan.  You bet I am.

For the Recipe and others go to www.mygfday.blogspot.com.au

NUT MILK BAGS have arrived, and are available in the web shop.  If you are paying more and more for nut milks why not make your own.  It is simple.  Blend your nuts with water, and strain them through the bags.  That is all there is to it.  You could add honey or vanilla (or chocolate), and save money.  Plus the resulting milk would be chemical free!

THE GARDEN:
Rain, rain, rain and cold, cold, cold,  with a couple of summery days.  I have checked and my potatoes are coming up beautifully, and I have started to pick the broad beans.  Its about time to put in some more.  I sprinkled watercress seeds in the bog, and I have a little carpet of green which bodes well for summer salads.  The cress will taste wonderful with the dandelion, mint and chives.

A friend left me with a heap of mugwort plants which I stripped.  I put the stalks in water hoping to plant them out at a later date and voila, there is a forest of strong white roots apparent in the water.  These will grow into strong plants which will keep bugs at bay being a cousin to Southern Wormwood (another favourite of mine.  Its what they make Absinthe from).

When I pruned my berry plants, I potted and planted all the prunings as I couldn't bear to throw them out, AND THEY HAVE ALL STRUCK.  So I am going to have a great crop (if the sun comes out).

YIN YOGA DVD with Paul Grilley?
We have sold out again!    The DVD's on back order have been sent, and we just wait for delivery of a new order.

We are selling these for under $40 which may explain our turnover.  When I bought mine I paid nearly $100 for it and was pleased to do it.   So if you want a set, order now from the shop on our web site – or ring Debbie and she will post one out as soon as they come to hand  – call on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 0354 273 518 (or order one when you come to teacher training.

FACEBOOK/BLOGS
I have tweeted, blogged fairly regularly (especially on the food blog) those who have asked me to be friends on LINKDIN and  GOOGLE too!!!  Well, that may not happen – I just can't do everything.  I am getting better at the blogs.  If you want to check out the GF blog, the address is www.mygfday.blogspot.com.au

I have also started a YOGA BLOG  www.myyogabeautiful.blogspot.comwww.myyogabeautiful.blogspot.com
I am putting this newsletter up on the blog after I have posted it here.  So if you want to catch up with it, again, that's where to look.

JAHNE'S MENTORING SESSIONS – "Step4th Mentoring"
Because Jahne has been teaching yoga for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice.

If you are a trainee teacher and have queries about your modules, Jahne is available for mentoring session at no charge to you, although it is helpful if you could please book your session.  However, if you wish to have Jahne help you with relationships, career, or just getting personally  "unstuck" then that is coaching/mentoring and does come with a cost. Her charge per half hour for mentoring is $75 and $65 for student teachers.  It is amazing how much you can shift in half an hour when you strip away the unnecessary chatter.  It's the Buddhist way.

"THE WOODEND MINISTRY OF FOOD".
Thank you for all those readers who sent me pictures of their council meeting food presentations.  Does your council enjoy the carb laden lunches without caring much, or thinking about the consequences to their health.

What do you think?  I would appreciate feedback – lots of feedback.   Please contact me at yogafirst@netcon.net.au.

'A CIRCLE OF WOMEN"
A CIRCLE OF WOMEN may just be the most powerful force known to humanity.  If you have one, embrace it.  If you need one, seek it.  DIVE IN, HOLD ON, LOVE IT UP.  Get naked.  Let them see you.  Let them hold you.  Let your reluctant tears fall.  Let yourself rise fierce and love gentle.  YOU WILL BE CHANGED.  The very fabric of your being will be altered by this, if you allow it.  PLEASE, PLEASE ALLOW IT (author:: Jeanette Leblanc).

Our yoga classes are the source of a CIRCLE OF WOMEN, and the Oaks Day and etc provides the fun part of our circle.  Please join in.

REGARDING DEBBIE – If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  She is available on Ph: 0354 273 518.  I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach.  Don't hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can..
